Corbett Tiger Reserve
Jim Corbett National Park Located in the foothills of great Himalayas and extending over an area of more than 500 sq km, the first wildlife reserve in India, Jim Corbett is one of the most
favored destinations of tourist interest, lies in Nainital in the state of Uttarakhand. The total area of the Reserve is 1318.54 sq.kms consists 520 sq.kms of core area and 797.72 sq.kms of buffer area. The core area creates the National Park while the buffer contains reserve forests 496.54 sq.kms as well as the Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary 301.18 sq.kms. The major part of this park is encircled by the North by the Kanda Ridge, with the height of 1043 meter at its highest point. Most of the area of the reserve is mountainous and falls in the shivalik and Outer Himalaya geological region. It makes the catchment area of the Ramganga, a branch of the Ganga.
